Walkergate is an area of Newcastle Upon Tyne which is located
around two miles away from Newcastle City Centre. Living in
Walkergate means you are also living close to the areas of St
Peter's Basin, Heaton and Wallsend.
Walkergate Metro station is located on the yellow line of the
Tyne & Wear Metro giving you access to Newcastle, the coast,
Gateshead and Sunderland.
Walker Park has all weather sports facilities, an open air
ampitheatre and a children's play park. Other sporting venues in
the area include Centurian Park Golf Club. The golf club is just
next to the coast road making it easy for access and alongside the
golf course, the complex has a driving range open 9am until 9pm
everyday with memberships and pay as you play available.
Walker Library is a great local amenity located on Welbeck Road
providing book, CD and DVD lending, free internet
access and activities and events for both adults and children. The
Library also acts as a local welfare provision with storytimes,
play for under fives, local information including transport,
learning courses and sessions with local councillors.
Wallsend is a neighbouring area of Walkergate which contains
some sites of historical interest including Segedunam, a world
heretige site and the gateway to Hadrians Wall.
Transport
As well as Walkergate Metro Station, Chillingham Road Metro
Station isn't far away either and with the main roads of Shields
Road, Benfield Road and Chillingham Road, living in Walkergate is
easily accesed by car and has many regular bus services.

Walkergate has many local schools, local ameneties and great
transport links into the city centre and around Newcastle Upon
