Moving Into Your Property
Moving Into Your Property
Moving can be a massive stress, here's a handy checklist to sort you out!
Paperwork
Before you move into your property we make sure you have
completed and returned all of the necessary paperwork which
includes application forms, pre-tenancy important information, a
holding deposit receipt, the tenancy agreement and guarantor forms
and credit checks where required. We will provide you with a
standing order mandate which you fill in with your bank details and
hand to your bank to ensure your rent comes in on the right date
each month and you don't have to worry about it.
Download a draft copy of the tenancy agreement here.
Keys
We will make you an appointment after 3pm on the start date of
your tenancy for you to collect your keys and sign any outstanding
paperwork. Keys can only be collected when all deposit and any
advanced rent, if required, is fully paid and all paperwork has
been correctly completed and any credit references that were
conducted passed.
Inventory
One of Walton Robinson's property supervisors will complete an
inspection of the property before you move in and prepare an
inventory listing everything in the property and the condition of
the property. The lead tenant will be given a copy of this and
given seven days to check and make any ammendments or requests and
hand it back to our office on Percy Street.
Utilities
Before you collect your keys and move into the property,
the utilities will already be set up but it is your responsibility
to call the providers and set up a new account or start an account
with a new provider. To find out which provider the property is
registered with call the NEDL Meterpoint on 0845 601 3268.
Council Tax
It is your responsibility to pay the council tax or inform
Newcastle City Council of your exemption if you are a student. You
can obtain a letter from your university or college confirming your
student status which you then take to any Newcastle City Council
customer service centre. You can call the council tax department on
0191 232 8520 or email counciltax@newcastle.gov.uk.
