Should I choose student halls or a house share?

Living in Student Halls
The Pros:
Living in student halls will be extremely sociable and fun, especially during Freshers Week for nights out in Newcastle. It'll be a great way to make new friends
If you're living in student halls, you're either right on campus or very close to campus. This means you can roll out of bed and head to your lectures without getting lost
This is probably your first time away from home. It's a great way to get a taste of independent living
The Cons:
Living in student halls is generally more expensive than private rentals. If you're on a tighter budget, you may want to look elsewhere.
Whilst you do get your own room, it can be tricky to get some time and space to yourself.
Unlike private renting, you won't get to choose or meet your flatmates before you move in.
House Shares
The Pros:
Living in a shared house means you share the costs of your utility bills too, which means cheaper living for everyone
You can choose who you want to live with, so it's easier to feel more comfortable in the house as everyone knows everyone else
Living in a house share in Newcastle means new friends and constant company should you need it. You'll always have a lunch buddy or TV binge partner!
The Cons:
If there are a few of you, you may have different tastes in décor. Putting a personal stamp on your home might be a little difficult to do when you need to take into account everyone's preferences
You'll always need to consider your other housemates and neighbours when you are planning on hosting an event at the house
Although you have your own room for privacy, everywhere and everything else in the house is shared.
