A day in the life of a New Tenancies Consultant

No two days are ever the same for our dedicated New Tenancies Consultant here at Seekers.

The Newcastle-based Property Management Agent has developed a dedicated Property Management team, who have in-depth knowledge of how to look after a portfolio of properties on behalf of landlords. The role of our New Tenancies Consultant sits within this department.

For a New Tenancies Consultant, this means managing a portfolio of Tenant Find properties, whereby the agency handles everything on a landlord’s behalf from instruction, right up until move-in day.

New Tenancies Consultant, William Greenwood, shared his thoughts on why working within the Seekers Property Management Team is such a rewarding experience.

“My role within Property Management is slightly different to the other Property Supervisors, in that while they all look after our managed landlords, I focus on our Tenant Find Only landlords, which makes it really important to build strong working relationships as I am their single point of contact.

“Similar to the Property Supervisors, I have direct access to our approved contractors, so I can provide my landlords with support around compliance and repairs should they need it.

“My day usually starts with checking my emails and looking at any tenant queries. I can then move on to reviewing sign ups, progressions and any paperwork that’s outstanding.

“I liaise with landlords about move ins, provide support around compliance and ensure any deposits and first instalments of rent are processed correctly, efficiently and most importantly, on time!

“I really enjoy working within Property Management, as although my role is slightly different to the other Supervisors, we all support and help each other out with things like Right to Rent checks and guarantor documents, so it’s a really positive environment to be in.

“My role includes a lot of communication, be it over the phone or via email, so you’ve got to be a people person and be able to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment, and I love the challenge of this.

“For me, it’s really rewarding being a single point of contact for tenant find landlords, as I can give a full, customisable service that is 100% dedicated to their wants and needs.

“As the role can be pretty fast-paced at times, you’ve got to keep organised and be able to remain calm under pressure.

“Because the role is customer-facing, you’ve got to be personable and approachable, and I find it enjoyable dealing with different people, tenants or landlords, on a daily basis – I’m never bored.”

Property Management Manager, Anna Rogers, said: “Property management is evolving and developing all the time, there are constant updates to legislation which we must keep up to date with, this is why it’s so important to have a team who are so dedicated and hardworking.

“We give our Property Supervisors ownership of their own properties and portfolios, which allows them to build really productive and fulfilling relationships with a host of different people, from landlords to contractors, and the New Tenancies Consultant is no exception.”

Whether clients are looking to let, rent, buy, sell, invest, or develop, Seekers aims to make the process simple.

Whilst they do all the things a typical estate and letting agent does, the agency’s core offering is twofold: a letting and management service for residential landlords and tenants, and a consultancy service for corporate investors and developers.
